raster
this is a dot matrix data structure that is generally represented as on a pixel grid or colored points which you can only save in curtain  file formats for example: bmp, gif, tiff, jpg.

bmp-The BMP file format, also known as bitmap image 



gif- is a animated image which also be a static image aswell






tiff- is a lager image file than a jpg because it is not compressed and has better quality



jpg-is a compressed file image that can lose a little quality than a tiff


vector
a vector image is not made up of pixels its made up of different shapes and have quite good quality than what a image dose and you can save these in psd wmf pla and al

psd- this is a file format for the adobe program called photoshop
